| He Heavy |

My wife and I were sitting at the dinner table when our 5 month old son, Isaac, starts to scream the hurt kind of scream. We run into the family room to see our two year old daughter, Josie, kneeling next to him and staring up at us with that "busted" look on her face. The looks on our faces told her immediately that we weren't pleased, so she started to cry too. As Miriam comforted our son we both told Josie she needs to be nice to her brother. We didn't think we would figure out what she did to make him cry. As I began to get ready to leave for work Miriam told Josie to apologzie to her baby brother. After she said she was sorry, she looked at my wife and said, "He heavy." Bingo! We've all been there, haven't we. We do something we know we shouldn't and the weight of it all becomes too much, too heavy. Whether it is lieing, cheating, stealing, adultery, pride, anger, whatever, these burdens become too much to bear. You don't have to keep carrying them, you know that, right? You can turn over all that junk and all those burdens in your life to the God who can simply wipe them away like a mom takes care of a child's hurts. You can put your trust in a God who loves, who forgives, and who will never bring up what you did again. You can find release and forgiveness in God, you only have to ask. Say something like this, "Dear God, I know I haven't been living right. I am tired of carrying this junk around with me. Forgive me for all the sin/junk I have done and am doing. Give me strength to trust in your love and forgiveness. Help me to follow after your son, Jesus, who makes my forgiveness possible. Thank you, Lord. Thank you. Amen." |
